The Dog Days of Summer are here! The weather is hot
and humid. Everyone's pace seems just a bit
slower. Another month to enjoy the lazy, hazy days of
summer. 
Just where does the expression "The Dog Days of
Summer" originate? According to Fact Monster, Dog Days is the
name for the most sultry period of summer, from
about July 3 to August. 11. Named in early
times by observers in countries bordering the Mediterranean, the period was
reckoned as extending from 20 days before to 20 days
after the conjunction of
Sirius (the dog star) and the sun.
Keeping with this theme, RDH Temps eNews takes a
look at some of the ways dentistry and canines, no pun
intended, are intertwined. We've even thrown in
some other animal species for good measure! Be sure

Cathy has been with RDH Temps for 21 years. She is
the Office Manager of the Dennis office and is often the
cheerful voice on the phone when you call RDH Temps.
 Prior to
coming to RDH Temps, Cathy was a Certified Dental
Assistant. Her experience as a CDA is invaluable in
her dealings with dental offices and RDH Temps
employees as it allows her to truly understand the needs
of both dental offices and dental
staff.
In her free time, Cathy enjoys golfing, gardening and
making Nantucket Baskets. (She does a beautiful job with
these!)
The next time you have occasion to speak with Cathy, be

The Guess Who, Who Are You?, The
Who all bring to mind various songs or musical
artists. At RDH Temps we often have another
version of this concept.
Many times one of our office staff will answer the
phone saying RDH Temps, then identify themselves, and be
greeted with a response of some variation of the
following:
"Do you have any work for Tuesday?"
"Hi, you called me today about work."
"This is Susan. What do you have next
week?"
In the course of a day we speak with many people.
It is necessary for us to know your full name, as well as your
staff type to open your record to search for available
work. We even have instances of 2 or more people with
the same name. Sometimes the staff type is the same,
other times it is not. If we search using the wrong record you
may inadvertently be matched to an assignment that is not a
match for you. Even worse, you may miss opportunities
that are a match.
By the same token, when leaving a message on our machine,
please speak clearly and provide your full name, spelling the
last name if appropriate, your staff type and telephone
number, including area code. Our service
area includes 11 area codes, not to mention cell phones
which may be from another area. A clear message, with a
complete telephone number will allow us to respond to your
call in the quickest
manner. |
