Greetings!
Walk for Mom 2008 was a great success! Thank you to everyone who planned, participated and/or donated. It is greatly appreciated.
The experience of walking for such a great cause can be summed up best by an email received a few days after the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk:
"I was really surprised how emotional it was for me. I remember I rode for MS several years ago. I don't know if it was because of my age, or just that I didn't know anybody with MS at that time, but I rode because I like to ride. This walk I did FOR breast cancer research, for people like Diane and my Aunt Pauline, to try to help, even though it was such a small amount. It was AWESOME and I can't wait to do it again! And even if I didn't know anybody, just to see the survivors there, some going through treatment right now, is both humbling and inspiring. What I have been through (in my life) is NOTHING compared to their daily battle."

| Get to Know Alice! |
Alice is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene Program at Cape Cod Community College. She joined the team at RDH Temps in 1998 after many years of clinical practicee in private dental offices on Cape Cod.
In addition to her personnel coordinator and customer service duties, Alice assists with processing applications for new staff and weekly payroll.
On weekends, Alice works with her husband in their photography business. Their specialties are family photographs and wedding photography.
In season, she spends leisure hours kayaking the rivers and ponds of "the Cape". Alice also weaves beautiful Nantucket Baskets. Her work is often a labor of love with completed pieces having been donated to her church as well as our very own Walk for Mom for fundraising purposes.
The next time you speak with Alice tell her you enjoyed "Getting to Know her!" |

Dentists are Increasingly Using and Working as Temporary Dentists By Diane Zack Seigal

Most dental facilities have long ago learned that using temporary dental hygienists or dental assistants from a reputable agency makes good business sense in many situations. However, many dentists have not stopped to consider using temporary dentists or temping as a dentist themselves.
Why would a dentist need a dentist to come into their office from an agency? There are a myriad of reasons that a practice may need a dentist to come in to help. The current dentist in the practice may be out on a medical leave, maternity leave, extended vacation time or military service. He or she may be thinking of adding or needing to replace an associate in the practice, but isn't ready to commit. Perhaps, as with other auxilliaries, the facility may prefer a working interview situation to see if the ethics and personality create a good match. Or maybe just to see if the concept of adding another dentist into the practice feels right.
On the other side of the coin, why would a licensed dentist work as a temp through an gency? Perhaps the dentist recently sold their practice, but is not ready to go into full time retirement mode yet or realizes after doing so, that they miss working, but not the responsibilities of owning a practice.

Congratulations to the 2008 Walk for Mom Team who raised $14,441.00 to fight breast cancer by walking on October 5, 2008. This does not include monies turned in the day of the walk. Updated totals will be available in November. We are still hopeful our goal of $25,000. will be met. There's still time to donate.
What a wonderful day it was! To view a slideshow of photographs from the walk please click here.
After a great walk around the Charles River Diane's daughter, Amanda Seigal, was honored with the 2008 Sandra C. Labaree New England Volunteer Values Award from the American Cancer Society. As you may already know, Amanda started Walk for Mom in 2006 after her mom was diagnosed and successfully treated for breast cancer. Congratulations, Amanda!
