Your response has been overwhelmingly positive. We hope to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Flexible Rates in this article. If your question is not answered here please call us at 800-462-8367.
Q. How will the Rate be determined?
A. The dental facility will determine a base pay rate based on prevailing wages in the area and other factors.
Q. What information will be used to establish prevailing wages?
A. Facilities may consider the rate they pay their own staff, confer with colleagues in their area and/or request input from RDH Temps to establish the rate they will offer. RDH Temps has compiled data from surveys, staff and facility feedback and trade publications to assist facilities in determining their offer rates.
Q. Does a temp have to accept the rate a facility offers?
A. No. If you feel the rate being offered is not appropriate for a geographic area you can propose a rate. If nobody accepts the job at the offered rate we will present the counter offer to the facility and call you back if the facility accepts.
Q. Why is RDH Temps trying to lower wages for dental staff?
A. The purpose of Flexible Rates is to accommodate wages in all geographic areas. This is not an attempt to lower wages overall. If anything it will allow us to be more competitive and provide work in areas that previously did not request temps. As with anything, supply and demand will be the driving force for rates. Ultimately higher demand translates to higher wages.
Q. What is a facility billed above and beyond the hourly rate of the temp?
A. As always, RDH Temps will employ the temps and handle all employment law, tax code and insurance matters. Facilities will be billed the agreed-upon base pay rate plus a percentage for direct payroll costs such as taxes, employee insurance and payroll processing. Our low management fee will then be calculated as a percentage of pay and direct payroll costs.
Q. Will RDH Temps make more money while temps make less money?
A. No. RDH Temps low management fee will be based on the pay rate and direct payroll costs. It benefits everyone to book temps at the best rate for the geographic area.
Q. Why is overtime no longer paid over 8.25 hours?
A. In order to conform to the labor laws of over 40 hours per week, and to remain competitive with the rest of the dental community, it was prudent we reevaluate the way we compute overtime.
* No temp is authorized to work over 40 hours in a week without the express written approval of RDH Temps.
Q. Must a facility offer the same base pay rate for each assignment?
A. The Base pay rate may be changed at any time prior to the beginning of the assignment day. You may choose to offer a higher or lower rate based on the criteria of your assignment. You may also offer a preferred rate for individual temps you prefer if desired.
Q. What is a preferred rate?
A. If a facility has a particular temp or temps they love the facility may offer a special rate for that person. Notify RDH Temps of any preferred temps as well as any preferential rates for such temps. Once noted in our system we will always offer the preferred temp(s) their special rate.
